As Year 2008 is coming to an end, i see that many of us are doing their reflections upon their performance throughout the year and setting resolution for a brand new year ahead. Well, since i've got nothing to do at home, I shall reflect upon my Year 2008 progression and most probably i'll set some resolution for Year 2009.
Over this year, God has been great in my life. I remember early January, I was encouraged to serve in the house of the Lord. I thought to myself for a while and sometimes hesitated for several reasons. Then I was just reminded that it is of no point that you hesitate and procrastinate. Why not give it a try first? So, I decided to join Usher Ministry just for a start.
Throughout this period of time, God has been constantly expanding my capacity to the fullest. From a nobody, I was graduated from a trainee to an ordinary usher. The best proof would be OM card. From there on, I realized that Usher ministry is always an active on-going type of ministry. You would never fail to see ushers standing there do nothing. We are always on the move and it definitely fits my criteria, if you know me well. ^-^ And I started to develop a bonding with my fellow usher mate, especially my beloved sisters (crist, yimin, elaine etc) and through them, I got to learned more about the conduct of this ministry .
Everything has got to move and change for the better. Soon enough, after a long time of remaining in a stagnant position, I told God that I want a break-though. I prayed to God for more opportunity to rise up in ministry, to get more exposure. I trust in Him. True enough, God has been good, He heard my prayer. I was then given an opportunity to serve as a stage usher. :) It was indeed fun and thrilling to serve the pastors. No doubt been a stage usher doesn't have to worry for loopholes in the zone or fishing like mad for people to fill the holes, we still have our job to do. I feel that we, as a stage usher, can also be known as "Nannies" of the pastors. We got to take care of their well-being,we prepare good warm water for them so that while they preach halfway and felt thirsty in a cold hall, they can drink it to smoothen their throat. When they need help during offering time, we can assist them with the buckets. You may also call us as the "Invisible" helping hands. :P
Just like one of the disciples in the bible, Andrew, he was indeed a perfect role model for us to respect. No doubt he wasn't that recognized by the public, Andrew's effort was deeply appreciated and pleases the Lord and Andrew was blessed abundantly. :)
Moving on, God constantly expanded my capacity and challenged me to take up a zone. I was hesitating for a moment as I felt that I wasn't ready to adapt this and my heart wasn't ready accept this responsibility. So one day, I was just praying to God. We, indeed, had a serious discussion and it came to a conclusion that I would be willing to take up all responsibility as long as God is willing to teach me. Soon enough, I was down to assist East/west IC as an understudy. Indeed, I've learned a lot from the ICs and am ready to take up new challenges that is ahead of me.
Till date, I'm an officially qualified IC for either East or West zone, an qualified "Nanny" and soon, I pray to God that I could be able to learn how to key in details for Hall attendance. I know that sometimes I've screwed up the whole thing, but isn't it true that it is the part and parcel of learning? Year 2008 has been a great year and I look forward to more exposure in ministry and perhaps, cell group in the following year to come.
God bless all of us and me! :)
